In yoga, there is something called a mantra. Simply put, a mantra is  a sound or statement used to keep yourself in the state of mind that you need to be in. When you are engaged in yoga, this is usually a state of calm or clearheadedness that will aid you with the physical aspect of the exercise. An affirmation is similar.

An affirmation is meant to provide emotional support or encouragement when it is otherwise difficult. Affirmations are meant to improve your mood. They can and should be used daily as a pick-me-up or positive reminder to yourself.

Everyone struggles from time to time and for some people,  those times are quite frequent. Adding an affirmation to those days can make it easier to stay grounded and on task without getting too overwhelmed.

Affirmations take no time at all to add to your day because they are simply words. They can also take any form you want and be about whatever you like.

Some affirmations are words:

  • Believe
  • Breathe
  • Smile

Some are sentences:

  • You can do anything.
  • I am beautiful.
  • Stay positive!

It is all about finding the right affirmation for you. You can even change your mind weekly, daily, or just when you feel like it because it’s yours. Your affirmation is your own. The only limit you have to adhere to is the one you set for  yourself. What you tell yourself every day is what you will believe. Your opinion of you is the only one that matters.
